Bio

Centrax\\Pila, who takes his Galangic name from his home sectors, enlisted in the Fleets at the age of 14. No longer a yearling, Naval service provided him an opportunity to indulge his curiosity and desire to travel. He tested high in math and science and was placed in the Engineering Branch, much to his satisfaction. His aptitude for the work was quickly apparent and he not only learned the intricacies of Hiver technology, he showed great interest and skill in understating Federation member race technology, including designs native to the Za’tachk, Ithklur, and Gurvin. His Officers, in a desire to nurture his talent and interest, arranged for a diplomatic mission to Imperial space, which would give him a chance to work with the technology of Humaniti.

Centrax\\Pila found much satisfaction in working with Humans. They could be quite industrious, and their Engineering systems, while not as sophisticated as Hivers, showed remarkable resilience thanks to their simple design. He found humans to be interesting subjects of study; their child like attachments to emotional concepts was endlessly entertaining. When offered the chance, he accepted secundment to the Imperial Navy, as part of an NCO exchange program. With his ranks and credit accounts transferred to Imperial equivalents, he was soon serving aboard an Imperial cruiser, en-route to Capital.

Centrax\\Pila tried to learn as much as he could not only about Human technology, but Human motives and behaviors. While the cultural differences were vast, he did make a key contact in Commander Eneri Dinsha, the XO of the Gionetti class Light Cruiser Bilem Suukar, and the two stay in regular contact via xBoat message. To help understand humans, he even participated in some of their games, or at least what he took to be games, including surreptitiously embezzling 50,000 Credits from Imperial coffers. The clearly case of a joke gone too far, Centrax\\Pila simply didn’t have the understanding to know that he was committing a crime. Fortunately, he was never caught, though he would have been quick to return the funds. In a Hiver economy, each individual holds credit with several nests and clubs, and to Centrax\\Pila, limiting credit from one nest was tantamount to a tease, or joke, not a crime (for in Hiver space, the Federation provides so well for individuals, that the concept of ‘going broke’ hardly exists).

On Capital, he served as a batman and aide to an Admiral in the Imperial Naval Systems Integration Office. Centrax\\Pila had obtained the job almost exclusively because of his race – the Admiral took him every meeting, in an effort to impress fellow Flag Officers and Nobles. Hivers were rare in the heart of the Imperium, and to have one as an aide held a certain cache, or so this officer believed. Centrax\\Pila was trained as a capable steward, able to carry out his duties, though after a few years, he found little satisfaction in this work. Diagnosed with a form of depression specific to his race (hivers curiosity and interests must be constantly stimulated not simply for ‘happyness’ but for effective functioning), he was eventually released from Aide duties and transferred to the Vland fleet. The chance to travel and see the old capital of the Ziru Sirka was of great interest to Centrax\\Pila and he found satisfaction in the journey and the chance to serve as an Engineer again.

On Vland, Centrax\\Pila encountered his first Droyne and heard tales the tales of the Ancients . He set out to select and lobby for assignments Spinward. Within a year he had passed through Corridor and into Deneb. Shore leave on these worlds taught him to tread carefully and he became skilled at anticipating danger from the unpredictable Vargr. As his service took him into the Marches, he found a CO and mentor who took a keen interest in his career, who taught Centrax\\Pila the science and art of Naval tactics, and the Hiver turned out to be a quick study. Not long after however, the Navy announced that his reenlistment eligibility window has closed. Centrax\\Pila had the option to return to Hiver space to muster out, a long, arduous journey given the 18 months remaining in his tour. He elected to retire to the Marches, still excited by the learning and studying the mysteries of this unusual region of space.
