Bio:

The Class-4 Scout Special Service Pistol is a custom pistol for Special Operations only. It receives the designation Class-Four because Special Operations is often known as Department Four in Scout slang.

The pistol is made out of a high-density calcium-based polymer, which is virtually indestructible. It has a silencer built into the barrel, which has traditionally been a source of contention between different groups within the Service, and led to the introduction of the Class-4A, which comes with a detachable silencer. The pistol also comes standard with specialized DNA authentication protocols.

More specifically, each weapon is keyed to one specific operative and thereafter cannot be changed. At the moment of authentication (which must be done at specific Scout bases only), a special radioactive organic compound is placed both at the core of the pistol and into the bloodstream of the operative. The decay rate of this substance is purposely randomized, and the Scouts scrupulously prevent any recording of the half-life for each individual operative. The compound is destroyed almost instantly once it is no longer circulating through the operative’s body. The DNA authenticator (which is not a part of the pistol’s computer system) also checks the organic compound and its radioactivity, thereby adding an extra layer of protection against use by anyone other than the operative.

The small computer (Computer/0, Expert Gun Combat specialization) on the Class-4 Scout Special Service Pistol is well-known in Special Operations for teasing its owners, sometimes (but usually not) viciously. This usually does not occur during combat, although stories abound of pistols taking time to tease their owners in the line of fire, causing their owners to be killed.

Lauren Makaan’s pistol is a modified version of the standard Class-4, which includes an x-ray laser sight, a gyrostabilizer, and a limited mobility option, which includes small “legs” that unfold from the handle, allowing it to literally aim and fire itself, so long as she is still touching it.
